Pundit warns Man Utd they're miles away from City

Chris Sutton has warned Manchester United that they’re far away from fierce rivals and league leaders Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho’s men are currently in second place, 16 points apart from their cross town rivals but the pundit didn’t mean what he said just literally.

Sutton was discussing the difference in abilities between the two teams and based on current form and points total, it’s hard to argue against it.

Mourinho also effectively handed the title to City when he admitted it would be too difficult to catch up to them at this point of the season.

While that may be true, it wasn’t good to say publicly and the BT Sport man even had a warning for the Portuguese manager and his side.

According to The Sport Review, Chris said to BBC Radio 5 Live: “Man United fans thought they’d push Man City this season. They are miles away from Man City.

“What worries me about Man United is they are in a scrap now. They are in second place but if Chelsea win, they have Man United next up after that. If Chelsea win that then they are level on points with Man United.

“Man United may be out of the Champions League places before long.”

A top four scrap is very possible and United fans will surely be concerned given their recent record against the top six sides.

The fact that they will face both Chelsea and Liverpool in their next three Premier League fixtures certainly won’t help their case.

Only a win against both will be considered acceptable and Jose will have to truly prove why he has a reputation for being a tactical master.

Anything less than six points can potentially see the Red Devils drop out of the top four race despite being second for the majority of the season.

Such a feat would surely be considered a failure for the once title challengers and Jose Mourinho could see himself out of a job by the summer.
