Kyle Walker berated for involvement in Wigan’s goal vs Man City

Wigan Athletic have replicated their 2013 FA Cup final shock to defeat Manchester City 1-0 and produce the biggest upset of the competition this season.

Will Grigg’s goal earnt the Latics an FA Cup quarter-final tie against Southampton at the DW Stadium.

Former Tottenham defender Walker has been berated on social media for his involvement in Wigan’s winning-goal this evening.

The 27-year-old carelessly allowed the ball to roll through his legs, to set free the on-rushing Grigg who took full advantage of the mistake to produce a shocking upset.

Wigan throughout matched the Premier League side blow for blow and whilst Man City were persistent in attack, Wigan stood regiment in defence to keep Sergio Aguero and company at bay to advance to the next round.

The win sets up a huge FA Cup quarter-final tie with Southampton on the weekend beginning 16 March at the DW Stadium.
