Leo Ulloa: Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil helped Leicester win the title

Leicester City stars talk to FourFourTwo

Will it ever happen again?

Leicester City’s 2015-16 Premier League title success remains one of the greatest fairytales in football history.

In the latest edition of FourFourTwo magazine, the players who were part of Leicester’s title winning season have told their favourites stories from that year.

Back in January, Argentine forward Leo Ulloa left Leicester on loan to join Brighton.

Ulloa has recalled the story of how Arsenal’s celebratory post game picture spurred Leicester onto the title.

Arsenal memorably beat Leicester 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium that season.

Danny Welbeck was the hero for the Gunners as he scored a last minute header.

That goal sparked wild scenes as Arsenal fans felt they could overtake the foxes in the title race.

Indeed, Mesut Ozil savoured the win with a dressing room photo of the Premier League’s “best team”, as Ozil called Arsenal.

For the record, in the final 12 games of the season, Arsenal picked up 20 points, Leicester took 28 points.

Ulloa retold the story of that Arsenal photo:

After the match, there was this photograph on Instagram of the Arsenal players celebrating in the dressing room and holding up two fingers.

It made us all laugh. They were two points below us, and in the end… well, I think they ended up a little further behind than that in the table.

We had this picture stuck up in the dressing room as a nice reminder of what they were all thinking about us. We would also share these pictures through Whatsapp.

I can say they helped us keep focused and concentrated.
