No one can believe how good the goal Marco Reus scored for BVB is (Video)

Goal No matter who you support, no one wants to see the best players stuck down with injury, and the amount Marco Reus has suffered in his career would make most people feel at least a bit sorry for him – and when you consider how good he is as well, and just what kind of a player he could have been without injury, it makes it worse. On his latest comeback for BVB, he scored an utter peach of a goal, and showed everyone just what they’ve been missing with him out the game – and just how vital he is for the German side, as his goal led them to a huge victory over Gladbach to consolidate the second place in the Bundesliga. Juan Mata reacts to VAR disallowing his goal against Huddersfield Town

Sports
Juan Mata noted that he felt “silly” after his goal against Huddersfield Town was controversially chalked off by video assistant referee technology on Saturday. The Spaniard rounded keeper Jonas Lössl and tucked home before understandably wheeling away to celebrate, only for referee Kevin Friend to declare him offside after over a minute of listening to his earpiece, the crowd, audience and players totally unaware of what was being seen. When the images came through, the lines used to judge offside decisions were comically wonky and by no means a basis to overturn a crucial decision. Speaking after the game, Mata seemed to be as confused as the rest of us in response to the decision. Mata: "I thought I scored a valid goal and I celebrated. Then after the VAR decisio

Video assistant referee technology has been implemented to eradicate controversy and ensure correct decisions, but in Manchester United’s first game with VAR in place that notion was placed under serious scrutiny. With half time approaching and Man United a goal up at the Kirklees Stadium, Ashley Young made an impressive run down the right hand side and found Juan Mata, who rounded the keeper before tucking the ball home. It certainly looked like a close call and the referee consulted Neil Swarbrick, sitting in Heathrow with a bunch of monitors in front of him, to clarify whether Mata was onside. After a prolonged period of waiting, the fans kept completely in the dark, the goal was eventually declared offside, and the reason we were given for the decision – the clear piece...

Chelsea and Arsenal fans react to Olivier Giroud’s first goal in blue

Account opened Olivier Giroud swapped the red of Arsenal for the blue of Chelsea last month and he’s finally got off the mark for Antonio Conte’s side. With Alvaro Morata struggling for fitness and form, Giroud was brought in against Hull to see if he could stand up to the test. Safe to say, he’s proved so far that he should be able to do a job at Stamford Bridge. Not only could he do a job as a back-up, Antonio Conte will be looking at the game tonight as a chance to show he is ready for a first choice role. Morata&...
