Romelu Lukaku reveals the club he plans to join in the future

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has promised to one day return to return to his former club Anderlecht, the player has told Belgian outlet HLN.

The 24-year-old admitted that it was his “dream” to play for the Anderlecht, having risen through the club’s youth ranks as a teenager.

Since his £75m move to Old Trafford, Lukaku has struggled to replicate the sort of form he demonstrated at Everton, making him one of the best forwards in England.

Return promised

The 24-year-old has promised to one day return to his former club Anderlecht, having left for England back in 2011.

Lukaku has been a huge success in the Premier League, earning two huge money moves to Everton and then to Manchester United last summer.

Lukaku told HLN:

“My dream was always to play for Anderlecht.

Before the end of my career I will definitely return, I can already promise that.

I have had a wonderful time here.”

The Belgian had two very successful years playing for Anderlecht having played in for the club’s under-17s side prior to being promoted to the first-team, aged just 17-years-old.

He scored an impressive 33 goals for the Jupiler Pro League side in 72 appearances as a teenager, before earning a £17m move to Chelsea.

Old Trafford struggles

This season, Lukaku has netted just 12 times in 26 Premier League appearances leaving him 11 behind top goalscorer Harry Kane.

United shelled out a huge transfer fee to acquire the services of the former Everton man, however, the player is yet to really kick-start his career in Manchester.

Jose Mourinho had hoped Lukaku would provide his side with the firepower they had been lacking since a season-ending injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic last season.

The player has admitted that he is continuing to work hard to ensure he can start really helping the team:

“I work hard and do everything to make sure I am in the starting line-up.

It is the manager’s choice, but he knows what I can do for the team.

I score goals and give assists and I think in my short time here I have been important for the team.”
