Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino has this afternoon provided the club’s fans with updates on the fitness of a pair of stars, ahead of the Saints’ FA Cup 5th-round clash with West Bromwich Albion.
Matchup
The two sides are set to go head to head at the Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon, with Southampton boss Pellegrino under mounting pressure following a string of disappointing performances from his men.
The Saints actually picked up a crucial 3 points away to West Brom in the Premier League just two weeks ago, but the performance of the Hampshire-based outfit in their latest clash with Liverpool saw fans immediately hit out at Pellegrino.
West Brom, meanwhile, are in desperate need of a confidence boost of their own, with the Baggies currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, and having been comfortably dispatched of by out-of-form Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their last outing.
Team news
Speaking this afternoon in anticipation of Saturday’s clash, Mauricio Pellegrino provided an update on the fitness of Saints’ stars Shane Long and Mario Lemina, both of whom were viewed as major doubts to face West Brom:
Mauricio Pellegrino confirms that Shane Long is the only possible absentee for Saturday’s @EmiratesFACup clash with West Ham. Lemina passed fit. #SaintsFC
