Mourinho has decided where this Man Utd star will play next season: report

Timothy Fosu-Mensah is set for one hell of a competition next season in his attempt to win a consistent place in the Manchester United starting XI.

The Dutch star was loaned out to Crystal Palace this Premier League campaign as Jose Mourinho wished to get him the game time he deserved.

There’s no better experience than staying in the same division and he’s pretty much set up to return straight into the first team next season with a better chance of winning his place at the club.

The question is where will Fosu-Mensah play? A quite stereotypically versatile footballer from the Netherland, he can play as a right-back, centre-back, defensive midfielder and central midfielder.

For the London club though he’s mainly operated in their defence with the appearance stats leaning towards the full-back position a bit more.

According to the Croydon Advertiser, the Daily Star report that Timothy will compete with Antonio Valencia for the right back spot next season.

The Ecuadorian is surely going to provide him with plenty of competition and will unlikely give up his spot so easily, having been the club’s first choice option there for a while now.

Valencia is 32 years old and is at the perfect age to start to eventually pass on his position to his successor should there be one.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah is the perfect candidate for it and Jose Mourinho will definitely love his versatility as he normally does with other players.

Whether he’ll be able to dislodge Antonio fans will only find out next season but he may have to try elsewhere such as the set to be vacant central midfield position.
