Man United set to bid for Jorginho if this target rejects Old Trafford move: report

Manchester United will make a bid for Napoli midfielder Jorginho if Serej Milinkovic-Savic rejects an Old Trafford move in the summer, according to reports.

Jose Mourinho personally went to watch Milinkovic-Savic feature for Serbia against Austria in a World Cup qualifier last October as he weighs up the ideal replacement for Michael Carrick.

The club have also been given encouragement over securing the services of Jorginho after his agent confirmed he would consider a move away in the summer.

But according to M.E.N, Man United will only make attempts to sign Jorginho if their bid to sign Milinkovic-Savic – a player Mourinho clearly likes – falls through.

The number of supposed midfield ‘targets’ continues to grow ahead of the summer and nobody can say with much confidence where United’s priorities really lie.

But in Jorginho and Milinkovic-Savic there is a clear theme – an obvious inkling of what kind of profile Mourinho is after in the summer.

The lack of legs in middle, with Ander Herrera far less influential, has cost United at times this season and the 55-year-old clearly feels like an indefatigable worker at the base of midfield – someone like Michael Essien – capable of covering every inch of grass for 90 minutes would make the lives of both Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic much easier.
