Juventus make surprise inquiry for Arsenal midfielder

Juventus have made a surprise inquiry for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, according to John Cross writing for the Daily Mirror.

The player is out of contract with the Gunners in the summer and is available to talk to and sign a pre-contract deal with foreign clubs.

A number of clubs from around the continent have also expressed an interest in signing the 26-year-old, however, Wilshere remains expected to sign a new deal at the Emirates.

Italian interest

Both Serie A clubs Juventus and AC Milan have both shown an interest in signing the player on a free transfer.

The Old Lady are understood to have enquired about the possibility of bringing the player to the Allianz Stadium in the summer.

The report also states that Wilshere has received “several firm approaches from top continental sides” with the possibility of sign a pre-agreed deal with them.

Keen to commit to Arsenal

However, clubs interested in landing the midfielder are set to be left disappointed with the player ready to sign a new contract.

He is set to be offered a contract worth £90,000-a-week with substantial bonuses linked to success and appearances.

This would, of course, make sense for the club given the player’s poor injury record over recent years.

Östersunds 0-3 Arsenal

The Gunners look to set to cruise into the last-16 of the Europa League having this evening weathered the bitterly cold conditions in Sweden to defeat Östersunds 3-0.

On an artificial turf and with temperatures down at around -10C, Arsenal safely overcame the challenge of Graham Potter’s side, with the North Londoners’ class, in the end, proving to be telling.

Goals from Nacho Monreal, an own-goal off of Sotirios Papagiannopoulos and Mesut Ozil earnt Arsenal a comfortable lead heading into next week’s second-leg in London.
