Danny Ings speaks about fulfilling Liverpool dream

Champions League

Danny Ings has claimed playing for Liverpool has allowed him to fulfil one of the biggest dreams of his career – playing in the Champions League.

The Liverpool forward has suffered from injury since joining the squad, but it seems that he’s back and wants to help the side progress in the competition this year, with a huge first leg win over Porto already under their belt.

“It was one of those things where you watch it as a kid and have a dream of playing in the competition,” Ings told Liverpool’s official website.

“So to come on and make my debut was a huge moment for me. I was very, very happy. But the most important thing was the 5-0 win – away at Porto, it’s a huge result.

“To be part of this group in a competition like that is huge for me, from the levels that I’ve come from over the years.

“It was a huge moment but something I want to build on. I want to stay around it with the lads and try to win as many games as we can and see how far we can go in the competition.”

Porto

The win over Porto is certainly something the club will be proud of, and it’s the biggest away win of any English side in an away leg of the Champions League knockout stages, and Jurgen Klopp’s side have sent out a message to the rest of Europe.

Liverpool know their forward line is one of the best in the world – with Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane showing just what they can do – and the defence holding up, but there will be questions about how their defence will fare in the latter stages when they encounter tougher sides.
