No one could believe their eyes when they watched the replays of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid penalty against PSG in their Champions League clash.
The game was finely poised with both sides trading blows throughout the first half of the game at the Bernabeu.
Neymar looked to down his former rivals while Real Madrid needed a win for the sake of Zinedine Zidane’s job.
Though, those Madrid plans were put on the back burner when Adrien Rabiot scored, with a Neymar flick setting him up for a free shot inside the box.
It looked like it could be more misery for the Bernabeu faithful until Real Madrid were rightly awarded a penalty.
The world stood still for a moment just before the half-time whistle with Cristiano Ronaldo stepping up to take the spot-kick for his 100th Champions League goal.
As many would have expected, he did just that and made history by becoming the first player to score 100 Champions League goals for one club.
While that was no doubt going to be the headlines, it was the circumstances of the penalty which gripped those on social media.
Magic trick
Replays of the penalty soon showed some very bizarre footage that had all football fans baffled.
As Ronaldo stepped up to take the penalty and plant his left foot to strike the ball with his right, the ball jumped.
It may not have been by much, but the ball lifted off the penalty spot, making it almost a half volley.
There was no immediate reason for the ball lifting up, there was no double touch and there didn’t look to be a huge divet in the Bernabeu turf.
Still, it had everyone talking about what exactly happened.
Not only that, there were reports soon after that also claimed that the player had a laser pen shone in his eye.
You have to give Ronaldo credit for still scoring after all of this!
