Olivier Giroud swapped the red of Arsenal for the blue of Chelsea last month and he’s finally got off the mark for Antonio Conte’s side.
The Frenchman was considered to be the bargain of the January transfer window and is considered to be one of the best in recent windows.
The forward had become frustrated at the lack of playing time at Arsenal but he looks to have found a new home at Chelsea.
With Alvaro Morata struggling for fitness and form, Giroud was brought in against Hull to see if he could stand up to the test.
Safe to say, he’s proved so far that he should be able to do a job at Stamford Bridge.
Not only could he do a job as a back-up, Antonio Conte will be looking at the game tonight as a chance to show he is ready for a first choice role.
Morata’s goalscoring record recently hasn’t exactly been up to scratch and it’s safe to say that they could do with a change.
Though, Giroud wasn’t the only player that impressed against Hull tonight.
Caballero takes his chance again
Argentine backup goalkeeper Willy Caballero was brought in to help the goalkeeping situation.
Asmir Begovic left the club to join Bournemouth in a record deal and that left the club looking for options.
They found it in Willy Caballero who joined on a free transfer having been let go by Manchester City.
Now, he’s starting to make his name as a penalty-saving god.
The Argentine saved a penalty from David Meyler in their clash with Hull and that is now his fifth save in eight attempts.
Safe to say, that is some record and he’s gone some way to proving he is more than a back-up.
