Kane wins the derby
Tottenham are starting to establish themselves as one of the biggest clubs in European football.
They were clearly the best team in North London on Saturday afternoon as they swept a poor Arsenal team aside.
Harry kane scored the winning goal on Saturday, his 7th goal in as many matches against The Gunners.
Earlier in the season, Pep Guardiola described Spurs as the ‘Harry Kane team’ and it is easy to see why.
The English forward recently became Tottenham’s record Premier League goal scorer and netted his 100th league goal for the club in Spurs’ 2-2 draw at Anfield last week.
Kane is currently the Premier League’s top scorer and has won the Golden Boot in each of the past two seasons.
Despite already cementing his place as a Tottenham legend, Kane actually started his career at Arsenal.
Why did Arsenal let go of Kane?
Arsenal’s former Academy Chief, Liam Brady revealed that Arsenal let go of Kane as they felt he was “too chubby”.
Brady explained to Corriere della Sera:
“He was a bit chubby, he wasn’t very athletic but we made a mistake”
“Unfortunately it was like that, he was fat, not very athletic and we were wrong”
“But through his determination he has carved out an amazing career and he deserves it. He has a character that drives him to improve all the time.”
It is hard to believe that Kane could have been too fat for Arsenal considering his incredible fitness levels.
It is fair to say that Kane has undoubtably proven Arsenal wrong for letting him go and it may just have been one of the worst mistakes in the club’s history.
That said, Kane did have to work very hard to become the player that he is today after struggling to impress on loan at clubs like Leyton orient, Leicester and Millwall.
It’s hard to imagine that the best striker in the world was seen as too fat to play football…
