In the replay of the historic 2013 FA Cup final, Wigan Atheltic have again matched Manchester City blow for blow, with both sides currently all square.
Towards the end of the half, however, like in 2013, City were reduced to 10-men, following Fabian Delph’s reckless challenge Max Power which referee Anthony Taylor deemed to be worthy of a red.
Controversial decision
Referee Taylor has put himself at the middle of huge controversy after changing his mind from showing Fabian Delph a yellow card to a red one instead.
As the game moved into the second minute of added time in the first-half, Delph’s poorly-timed, two-footed lunge on Power caused huge uproar amounts the Wigan players.
So much so, as when the referee went to show the 28-year-old just a yellow card, he instead changed his mind, bringing out the red card to send the former Aston Villa man off.
The decision caused a skirmish between both sets of benches which decided into the tunnel after the half was drawn to a close.
Red or not?
Deserved red card for Delph… That was a HORRIBLE tackle!

Never mind the tackle how often do you see a ref with his yellow card out writing a players name down on the back get shoved around by a few players and then change his mind and give a red card? Can’t remember seeing it before

Not sure how you can get a yellow card out, write Delph name on it and then change mind and show a red#joke

Debatable that Delph sending off.. can see why the ref gave it with the studs showing.. but strange how changed his mind from yellow to red.

I’ve seen so much worse given a yellow to #MCFC but we get a red? #fa @fa refs are so inconsistent it’s a joke. If that’s a red… then Harry Kane, Dele Alli, and others should gets Reds for their tackles against #city

Whether it’s red is debatable. But he obviously didn’t think it was until he got bullied in to giving it. He’d already marked his yellow card
