(WFFF/WVNY) – According to a Reuters report released Wednesday, more than 20 refugee resettlement offices are slated to close and dozens of others will scale back operations.

The report says the closures are being reviewed by the State Department for final approval.

It follows President Donald Trump’s decision to reduce the number of refugees that will be allowed into the U.S. this year.

Reuters said the maximum number of refugees will decrease from 110,000 to 45,000.

Vermont has one resettlement office in Colchester and for the past year has operated a small office in Rutland.

U.S. Committee for Refugees and immigrants spokesperson Stacie Blake says Rutland is not expecting any more refugees for the current fiscal year because the site has been zeroed out.

Blake says they will continue to resettle new arrivals in Chittenden County through the Colchester Office.
