ESPN FC pundit Shaka Hislop has warned Manchester United that they will lose Luke Shaw at the end of the current Premier League campaign.
The Englishman’s contract is set to expire in the summer with reports that Arsenal and Chelsea are both monitoring his situation.
United are said to be interested in renewing his contract but negotiations have yet to begun, leaving some fans worried.
Shaw can certainly still become a legend at the club should he wish to be and he has done enough to earn an extension on his current contract.
Hislop though believes that Luke will leave the Red Devils but that it won’t be a move to London to join the Gunners and Arsene Wenger.
According to the Daily Star, Shaka said: “Without question, Jose Mourinho’s comments [on Shaw] are with the view of getting the best possible return on Luke Shaw.
“Saying that, I think Shaw will leave Old Trafford but I don’t see him going to Arsenal.”
The left-back has impressed in recent games, finally earning the praise of his manager Jose Mourinho who once doubted his qualities.
Luke Shaw has had some tough times with his fitness issues but the Portuguese boss was unimpressed more by his attitude and mentality.
It wasn’t the first time a manager question the youngster’s mindset with both Louis Van Gaal and Mauricio Pochettino doing so also.
However, both those managers showed Shaw a little more love than Mourinho has but it appears as though his tough love has finally worked.
Now that the former Chelsea boss feels he can trust the defender it’s likely that he’ll want to tie Luke up to a contract as soon as possible to avoid losing him for free to any one of the club’s current rivals.
