Real Madrid 5 – Real Sociedad 2
Real Madrid scored five time on Saturday night in La Liga.
Lowly Real Sociedad lost 5-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu, as Cristiano Ronaldo stole the headlines once again.
The 33-year-old scored a hat-trick for Los Blancos. Moreover, it was a ‘perfect’ hat-trick: a header, and goals with his left and right boots.
Lucas Vazquez got the ball rolling for Real scoring after just 55 seconds. Toni Kroos also found the target for Madrid. Jon Bautista and Asier Illarramendi bagged second half consolation goals for Sociedad.
Real Madrid are fourth in the Spanish top flight.
Real Madrid vs PSG
This week, on Valentine’s Day, Real Madrid take on PSG in the Champions League.
The match in Spain is the first of the two legged last-16 knockout tie.
Zinedine zidane made a few changes to his starting XI against Sociedad. Most noticeably, Gareth Bale was left on the bench. The Welsh star was brought on as a second half sub, and Bale looks set to start against PSG in midweek.
Nacho and Casemiro were also given the night off against Sociedad. The right-back and defensive midfielder should also return against the Ligue 1 powerhouse.
It was also eye-catching that Luka Modric was subbed out of Saturday’s game just after the hour mark.
Toulouse 0 – PSG 1
PSG were also in actin on Saturday, winning 1-0 away at Toulouse.
Neymar scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half.
PSG have a 12 point lead over Monaco at the top of the French Ligue 1.
