Mourinho reveals early team news for Man United’s trip to Sevilla: 3 players back from injury
A trio of Manchester United players could be ready to face Sevilla in the UEEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, manager Jose Mourinho has revealed.
The Portuguese has spoken of a small injury crisis at Man United in recent weeks, after young midfielder Ethan Hamilton was brought into the squad to face Huddersfield Town in Saturday’s 2-0 FA Cup Fifth Round victory due to the number of injuries.
However, his options for Wednedsay’s trip to Sevilla could be boosted by three individuals.
“I think Rashford, Herrera, Valencia [will be fit],” Mourinho said.
“I think they have a chance.”
Discussing the possibility of Paul Pogba recovering from illness to make the squad for the game, Mourinho said, “Paul, I don’t know.”
The Frenchman has been at the centre of some controversy after reports suggested he may have had a disagreement with manager Jose Mourinho. Some claimed that suggestions Pogba has been ‘ill’ are a cover-up for being dropped after a dispute.
However, other reports now indicate that United are hopeful Pogba will return for the Sevilla trip.
“Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Marouane [Fellaini], Zlatan, I don’t think they have any chance,” Mourinho said.
Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof started for United against Huddersfield, but Eric Bailly returned after months out with injury as a late, late substitute against the Terriers. He could be straight back in the starting line-up.
That would be a great boost given Mourinho suggested neither Jones nor Rojo could play a part in Spain.
