Manchester United and Arsenal are to be involved with each other once more but will not be working together this time as they battle to sign Benfica winger Andrija Zivkovic.
The two clubs managed to work out a deal that saw Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan trade places in the January transfer window.
However, this time around they are set to go head to head as they chase to sign the Portuguese club’s young star in a bid to improve their ranks.
It could be argued that neither club truly needs the player considering both Mkhitaryan and Sanchez have played as wingers for their respective clubs.
Perhaps the Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger are looking to add depth to their flanks, either way it’ll make for another interesting fight.
According to Mirror, TransferMarketWeb report that the Red Devils are willing to take on the Gunners in order to sign the Serbian Zivkovic.
Zivkovic is believed to be highly rated by Benfica and it’s unlikely they’ll be willing to sell him for cheap, especially since club’s are lining up to sign him.
United have Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard as the club’s current options out wide.
Given that Mourinho prefers to set his team up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and that he likes to have two players per position, the Red Devils are currently short of numbers.
There is Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia if absolutely needed but it’s clear that the pair are now more capable as full-backs instead.
