Manchester United fans may be pleased to find out that their club is finally ready to part ways with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones according to reports.
The two defenders have been hugely criticised of late for their recent performances and it appears as though Jose Mourinho is fed up with them.
Jones frustrated supporters by conceding an own goal vs Tottenham Hotspurs in a match where the entire defence failed to show up.
Smalling endured the wrath of fans after conceding a free-kick to Newcastle United in which he dived in and the Magpies scoring the winning goal from.
Both players will surely have gotten on Mourinho’s nerves by now and it’s no surprise to hear that he’s considering moving them on.
According to Sports Mole, The Mirror reports that Jose is ready to sell the pair in a bid to bring in new faces and shake up the backline.
United currently have Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof and Marcos Rojo as their other centre-back options with Axel Tuanzebe also out on loan.
Whilst it may be a long shot, Daley Blind can also be considered as a centre-back though Jose Mourinho tries to avoid using him there.
The competition for places in that position is at it’s highest as it’s ever been in recent times yet it appears at it’s weakest.
Bailly and Lindelof are expected to eventually be Mourinho’s first choice pairing but the futures of Rojo, Phil and Chris are very much in the air for now.
