Man United receive big boost in their pursuit of Justin Kluivert

Manchester United target Patrick Kluivert has reignited speculation surrounding a potential move to Old Trafford, insisting he would be tempted by a move to the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho supposedly told the youngster, son of former Barcelona and Netherlands forward Patrick, following the Europa League final that he wanted to bring him to Man United in the summer of 2018.

Kluivert has since ruled out the prospect of leaving Ajax in the summer and Mourinho made it clear earlier this month that he wasn’t planning on adding attacking reinforcements.

But the 18-year-old, speaking in an interview earlier this week, noted that a move to Man United would appeal to him further down the line.

“If you get a nice offer, you never know,” he said.

“England appeals to me: Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea or Manchester United are nice clubs where I can see myself playing in a few years.”

Mourinho has made the right decision in choosing to ignore attacking players in the summer in favour of bolstering his midfield and full-back options, but that doesn’t plans for the future beyond next season stops dead.

United will naturally keep a close eye on the dynamic, slippery threat of Kluivert, who is following in the footsteps of his father by establishing himself at Ajax as a mere teenager, whilst also monitoring the progress of Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic – a 19-year-old who brings composure and zip on the ball way beyond his years and, being from the United States, immense commercial potential as well.

Neither of these transfers feel quite right at the moment, but as United seek to keep things fresh going forward over the next couple of years, they could prove to be just what they need.
