Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has this evening provided his take on the unbeaten league streak of his side’s Champions League last-16 opponents Porto.
Matchup
The two sides are set to go head to head at the Estádio do Dragão tomorrow night, after Jurgen Klopp’s Reds were handed a showdown with the Portuguese giants as a reward for topping the Champions League Group E table.
Porto, meanwhile, finished runners-up behind the impressive Besiktas in Group G, though it should be noted that the qualification of Sérgio Conceição’s men came at the expense of last season’s semi-finalists Monaco and up-and-coming German powerhouse RB Leipzig.
Dominant force
Liverpool have, for obvious reasons, been labelled as the clear favourites heading into the last-16 tie between the sides, though those with a knowledge of Portuguese football have warned the Mersysiders that Porto will prove no pushovers.
Conceição’s side currently sit top of the Liga Nos table, having picked up 17 wins from their opening 21 league fixtures to this point.
The Dragoes are yet to lose a single game in the Portuguese top-flight this season, and currently hold a hugely impressive +43 goal difference.
‘We aren’t too bad’
Speaking in a press conference earlier today ahead of his side’s clash with the Liga Nos leaders, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was questioned on Porto’s unbeaten streak, with the German tactician emanating confidence with his response:
Klopp: “Porto haven’t played 20 times so far against a team like us. We aren’t too bad. We want to show that.”
