Manchester United and Jose Mourinho will surely be pleased to hear that Barcelona are ready to cut ties with Andre Gomes according to reports.
The central midfielder has apparently struggled during his time at the Spanish club, making 22 appearances across all competitions and assisting just the once according to Transfermarkt.
United are definitely in the market for a player to stock up their engine room and Mourinho could be tempted by what one would assume would be a cheaper than normal buy.
Whether Gomes is willing to leave though is a different thing entirely but he would know that he possibly quite easily has a spot in the Jose’s starting XI.
Despite knowing that it will definitely take more to tempt him away from Barcelona who appear to be a completely reinvigorated side to last season.
According to Sports Witness, Spanish newspapers report that the Red Devils have serious interest in Andre and that the La Liga giants are willing to sell.
Manchester United currently have Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick and Scott McTominay as their midfielders.
However, reports have emerged of Fellaini agreeing a move to Turkey and Carrick is expected to retire at the end of the season to join the club’s backroom staff.
Herrera has been heavily linked with AC Milan and Jose Mourinho may be willing to sell due to the Spaniard’s inability to reproduce last season’s great form.
McTominay is still inexperienced, leaving the Portuguese manager with just Matic and Pogba to rely on, meaning a move for Andre Gomes for a cheap price would make sense.
