As per a report from Spanish outlet Don Balon this afternoon, Arsenal could make a summer approach to Barcelona for winger Ousmane Dembele.
In-demand
20-year-old Dembele enjoyed a stellar season for Borussia Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion in 2016/17, cementing himself as one of world football’s most coveted young stars.
A return of 10 goals and a staggering 21 assists in his debut campaign left Europe’s top sides scrambling for the services of the wing wizard, with La Liga giants Barcelona having sought out the Frenchman to replace Neymar, following his move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Done deal
Following months of speculation, Dembele finally completed his long-anticipated move to the Blaugrana in August for a club-record fee potentially rising to almost 150 million Euro.
However, the youngster’s time at the Camp Nou has not gone according to plan to this point, with a number of injuries having restricted Dembele to just 3 starts across all competitions.

As such, as per the aforementioned report from Don Balon, Arsenal could look to tempt Barcelona into parting with their summer signing less than 12 months after his arrival at the club, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang having reportedly endorsed a move for his former Dortmund teammate.
It remains unclear whether the rumoured approach of the Gunners would entail a permanent or loan offer, but, for obvious reasons, a departure from Catalunya looks extremely unlikely for Dembele this summer, with Barca having showcased their clear faith in the talents of the Frenchman by agreeing to splash out such a hefty fee on his signature in the first place.
