On Oscar night, Allison Janney says there is one special item she will definitely be bringing with her.

The actress, who is nominated for best supporting actress for her role as U.S. figure skater Tonya Harding’s abusive mother LaVona Golden in the film I, Tonya, tells PEOPLE she won’t be leaving the house without her good luck charm, which was given to her by her good friend I, Tonya screenwriter Steven Rogers.

“I’ve known him a long time,” she says. “Whenever I was doing a performance he would always say, to me ‘sparkle peanut’ and years ago he gave me a tiny, silver peanut. So I’m gonna have that in my purse.”

Apparently the peanut seems to be working. Janney, 58, is already the proud winner of seven Emmys , six Screen Actors Guild Awards and one Golden Globe.

On March 4, she hopes to add an Oscar to her long list of accolades. She says she is looking forward to the big day and remembers watching the Academy Awards as a young girl.

“My favorite memory of watching the Oscars, has always been seeing whatever Cher would wear,” she says. “That was always so fun to look forward to because she was so outrageous and I loved it.”
