Pundit believes this is the reason Pogba is suffering

Pundit Robbie Fowler has joined in on the conversation about Paul Pogba and why the Manchester United midfielder has struggled of late.

The Frenchman has seen a downturn in form that resulted in him being substituted in loses to both Tottenham and Newcastle while being dropped for the match vs Huddersfield.

While boss Jose Mourinho has insisted that it was all tactical, many believe there’s a rift currently going on between the two; something that United have already denied.

Pogba’s role has been the talk of the town for the past week and only time will tell whether the Portuguese manager was right all along or not.

Fowler though believes that the midfielder’s problems are simply due to the league that he’s in and not just Mourinho’s so called rigid system.

According to Sports Mole, Robbie said to the Mirror: “My guess is he’s suffering a bit because of the level of the Premier League. In Italy, he was able to play in a system which gave him complete freedom.

“In England teams are more organised. There is not the freedom to do what you like, keep running forward and leave big gaps in midfield.

“He’s a top player who hurts when he doesn’t look like one. And he won’t put up with that for long.”

Calls for a 4-3-3 formation to be implemented in order to get the most out of Paul seem to make sense but fans must recognise that some of his best games have also come in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Jose’s assumption that the former Juventus man should be capable of playing any role is correct given the type of talent he has.

However, the smarter thing to do would be to use Paul Pogba in the role that best suits him as he is capable of taking the team to the next level.

There’s also previous evidence that he’s played some pretty good football in a three man midfield and it makes sense considering he’s such a specialist player.
