Unlike the Western New Year which always starts on Jan. 1, the Chinese New Year is dictated by the lunar (moon) cycle, usually falling between Jan. 20 and Feb. 21. It’s a major holiday celebrated in China, as well as many neighboring countries and around the world.
This year, the Chinese New Year begins Feb. 16, which initiates the Year of the Dog. So, if you were born in 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006 or 2018, you’re in luck this year.
According to Horoscopes.com, “The year of the (earth) Dog highlights dependability, building loyalty at work and in relationships, and certainly building material wealth.” 2018 also sets the stage for reunions, with friends and family. The moon and stars are aligned for Dog people this year, and they can expect to enjoy a wide range of success in the new year, especially in relation to all their hard work in the past year.
The Chinese Zodiac site Chinahighlights.com says that Dog people are best known for their fidelity. Loyal dogs? Makes sense to us!
A Dog sign’s best match is another dog, a horse, or a tiger. (And sorry, Games of Thrones fans, dragons are a dog’s worst match.)
